Thriving through October and the Eclipses

Thriving through October and the Eclipses

These past two months many of us have been and may be feeling internal angst without understanding why. Sometimes we just want to run away and escape from the internal discomfort and external chaos. However, although the intensity may pass, the soul lessons are still there to learn and will resurface again and again until we become more aware and awake. This is a powerful time to make big changes somewhere in our lives. Big changes can take us into big discomfort, especially when we are not even realizing where we are being resistant or not sure what needs to change. Sometimes we feel the discomfort but where change is needed isn’t always easy to identify, especially when we have lived so long with accepting the status quo and not feeling completely happy. Or when we are so busy we don’t even let ourselves wonder about how we might be feeling.

Often it is easier to identify the external changes we wish for, my belly is too fat, my hair is thin, my apartment is too small, I hate my clothes, and yes those changes might help. However, more important are the internal shifts we need to make so the external shifts are healthier and longer term. Leading this internal dialogue with softness and compassion is a healthier and more fruitful exercise to becoming awake. Compassion plays a big role in how much we are able to listen to ourselves. Compassion can also help our health, according to physiological and psychological research, including reduced stress, anxiety, and depression while also increasing our immunity, resilience, and the ability to cope with challenging or negative events. Mindfully practicing compassion also leads to a greater connection with others.
To be clear, compassion is not the same as pity. Compassion is to recognize the suffering and understand where it might be coming from. This is a higher vibrational emotion than pity. When coming from a place of compassion, we might ask questions from a loving place of wonder, not shame.

During the remainder of October and into the next month of November, check in with how we are feeling every day, and perhaps a few times throughout the day. Where are we being triggered? Certain people and/or certain situations might be causing us to feel irritated, or angered, powerless, or frustrated. Those are all signs that it is time for change in one area, or several. If we choose to go into wonder, "I wonder why I am feeling irritated by this person?" We are opening up to the aha answers that want to come through. During this time of the year, take a few moments and lay flat on the ground, outside is best and before the snow comes might be easier ;) supporting whatever body parts need support. Surrender into the ground and look up at the big beautiful sky. It truly helps gather ourselves back to the center of our being by laying on the ground, our whole bodies, not just our lower halves. Our head is included because our head is the powerful thinking center that can flair up more stories and more discomfort. Letting ourselves surrender in this way can bring physical ease, and also emotional and mental ease. Who knows, we might even tap into a spiritual aha or two.

Giving ourselves the connection time is an important step in fulfilling our destiny. It is vital to nurture our internal world. If we want our outer world to change, that is where we need to begin.

Over this next month, SoulSpeak will be adding more online pre-recorded programming. These will be available on my website sometime in early to mid-November. Fingers crossed :) I will also be offering live classes a few times a year that focus on becoming more awake and authentic. Please check my website and stay tuned :)
